Executive Summary

James C. “Chris” McNeil and Meaghan Poyer, proceeding pro se, filed a notice appealing orders entered by Charleston County Circuit Judge Will Wheeler in case 2025-CP-10-05095. They appeal the August 3, 2026 order and the August 14, 2026 order denying their Rule 59(e) motion to alter or amend judgment. The notice states they received Rule 77 notice of the latter order around August 20, 2026, and that copies were provided to the Charleston County Clerk and counsel of record. The filing includes certificates stating service by email on September 13 and certified mail on September 14, 2026.

Legal Significance

McNeil and Poyer formally appeal both Judge Wheeler’s August 3, 2026 order and the August 14, 2026 order denying their Rule 59(e) motion to alter or amend. The notice invokes appellate review of the trial court’s challenged rulings and identifies their asserted receipt of Rule 77 notice of the post-judgment order on approximately August 20, 2026, which bears on the appeal’s timeliness. The accompanying certificates of service document notice to counsel for the respondents and identified subpoena recipients.
