The Mirror Docket
(Proof of concept active, future tool possible)
Currently a proof of concept being demonstrated with McNeil and Poyer v SAC 181, LLC et. al. and related cases. This works around South Carolina's (as it could for the other states that mandate a paper intake path for pro se) archaic rules about access to electronic filing. Currently, 28 states do not allow pro se to file electronically, meaning that it takes resource intensive OCR (optical character recognition) to extract text from the docketed scanned versions that have flattened the native text into images. (and sometimes significantly degraded visual evidence in exhibits).
But the Mirror Docket doesn't just replace the missing self-represented visibility through the public docket, which was lost by only having scanned-in images of their filings instead of full text accessibility. It does it one better: through wrapper pages around the restored pdf filings, enabling evidence-based commentary as well as hyper-optimized STL Schema, it makes them better indexed than they would have been if they were electronically filed on the public docket to start with. One might call it the "Streisand Docket".
